Queenswood Country Park & Arboretum: the Green Heart of Herefordshire

Queenswood is Herefordshire Wildlife Trust’s flagship nature reserve and is the only designated country park in the county. A 47 acre arboretum sits at its heart and contains over 1200 rare and exotic trees from around the world. Surrounding this is 123 acres of semi-natural ancient woodland offering a haven for wildlife.

Located straight off the A49, at the top of Dinmore Hill near Leominster, Queenswood is a place for people to enjoy the fresh air, take in the views, listen to the birdsong and connect with nature.

There is an extensive and exciting range of attractions that are interesting, fun and healthy for people of all ages. Check our Events Listings for special events and activities held throughout the year.

There’s so much to do & see at Queenswood Country Park!

Queenswood is a fragment of the vast ancient oak wood that once stretched to the Welsh borders & beyond. It frequently reverted to the source of all estates, “the crown” (the monarch) intermittently, and changed its name from ‘Kings Wood’ to ‘Queenswood’ in the reign of Queen Elizabeth II.

We have a number of events held throughout the year here at Queenswood. See what we have going on here!

Great place to take the kids for a say out. The Gruffalo Trail is great and easy to follow, but very popular and for that reason can get very muddy. Pay for parking, but I thought the price was very reasonable, well worth a visit

Plenty of parking. Take the right change. £4 for 3 hours. Very muddy and steep in parts, but you can keep to more flat and drier paths. Sequoia trees are fab! Takeaway food from cafe. Gorgeous hot chocolate.

Good paths to follow, can easily spend several hours here, good food and reasonable priced,£4.50 for a pasta pot and gorgeous cheese burgers. Good seating areas for picnics and clean toilets with hand sanitizer. Plenty of space not to be overcrowded and plenty of parking space.
